Movement Network Foundation Grants
Movement Network Foundation offers a range of grants to support open-source projects that contribute to the development and utility of the Movement ecosystem. Funding focuses on innovative use cases, public goods, and tools that encourage the growth of MoveVM-based applications.
Ecosystem and Community Funding
Additional funding is available for ecosystem partners and community-focused initiatives that advance awareness, education, and user engagement within the Movement network. This includes support for hackathons, research, and educational projects.
Request for Motion (RFMs)
Movement Network Foundation periodically publishes RFMs for specific projects or tools that are essential for the ecosystem’s growth. These grants target critical infrastructure, developer tools, and other components that address ecosystem needs.
How to Apply
Application Process:
All applicants should submit a detailed application outlining their project, goals, and funding requirements. Key elements to include:
Project Overview:
Describe your project’s goals, objectives, and its potential impact on the Movement ecosystem.
Public Good Contribution:
Explain how your project will contribute to the community and Movement Network at large.
Budget Proposal and Milestones:
Provide a transparent budget with clear, achievable milestones tied to your funding request.
Application Review:
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. If selected for further evaluation, applicants may be contacted by Movement Foundation experts to discuss technical specifics, potential impact, and fit within the Movement ecosystem.
Decision and Notification:
Applicants will receive an email notification regarding the status of their application within four weeks. Approved projects will work with Movement Foundation grants team to formalize the grant agreement.
Guidelines for Evaluation
When evaluating grant applications, Movement Foundation considers the following:
Innovation and Ecosystem Fit:
Projects that leverage the unique strengths of the Move language and benefit from Movement’s modular framework are prioritized.
Public Good and Open-Source Commitment:
Preference is given to projects with significant open-source contributions that provide tools, protocols, or infrastructure for the Movement community.
Feasibility and Milestones:
Projects should have a clear, structured roadmap with realistic milestones and goals. We encourage applicants to outline how funding will drive impactful outcomes for the ecosystem.
Alignment with Movement Foundation's Vision:
Projects should ideally demonstrate why they’re building on Movement rather than other networks, showcasing how Movement’s capabilities uniquely support their objectives.

Hackathons and Community Engagement
Movement Foundation partners with leading organizations to run hackathons that encourage builders worldwide to create on Movement’s network. Select projects from these events may qualify for funding, mentorship, and technical resources.
Educational and Public Goods Programs
We support programs focused on increasing Move language proficiency, educating developers, and creating valuable resources for the Movement community.
Ecosystem Partners and Specialized Grants
Movement ecosystem teams may offer specific grants for projects in defined verticals such as DeFi, NFTs, or gaming, aimed at encouraging diverse applications within the network.
Security and Development Credits
Movement Labs provides grants for essential security audits and code reviews for qualifying projects to ensure safe and robust deployments within the ecosystem.

Who Can Apply?
Our grants program is open to individual developers, teams, enterprises, non-profits, researchers, and educators who are working to expand the Movement ecosystem.
When Will I Receive the Grant Funds?
Approved funds are disbursed based on milestones outlined in the grant agreement. Projects may also be subject to vesting schedules for token-based funding.
Do Projects Have to be Fully Open-Source?
While fully open-source projects are preferred, we may consider partially open-source projects as long as they provide community value and align with Movement Foundation goals for transparency and collaboration.
What if I Want to Apply for Multiple Grants?
If you are already funded, we encourage you to complete your current project before applying for additional funding.
